Dallas Republican state representative Jason Villalba continues to show his RINO (Republican-In-Name-Only) attitudes as he called for President Donald Trump’s impeachment on Tuesday, July 17. Villalba apparently suffered an emotional meltdown like many other Democrats, the liberal Media and some Republicans over Trump’s comments about Russian interference in the 2016 American election.
The soon-to-be-former state rep used the “Impeach Trump” hashtag to call for Trump’s removal. He tweeted that “it’s time to change course” if the president chooses Russians over U.S. officials.
President Trump walked back his comments on Wednesday, but that hasn’t been good enough for a lot of his outraged critics. Villalba is in good company with Democrats, the liberal Media and some RINOs who continue to scream, including one that called for a military coup to remove Trump.
Villalba is a vocal moderate Republican who served for 3 terms in the Texas state House, but was ousted in March 2018 in the GOP primary. He was defeated by Lisa Luby Ryan when voters in his district revolted against his anti-conservative politics and his criticism of Trump.
He has shown his disgust for conservative grassroots/populist issues in the Texas State House as a legislative ally of Texas House Speaker Joe Straus. He once warned that a number of conservative bills coming from the State Senate would be killed by the more liberal State House saying that the Straus forces would "obstruct Senate-passed reforms [through] the House Calendars Committee, where conservative bills will be strangled in the cradle."
He has also served the role of a “professional Hispanic” for moderate and Establishment Republicans. Professional Hispanics are paid to carry the Establishment message to and for Hispanics…even though there no such thing as a “Hispanic” nor are they a monolithic group.
We should not be surprised that Villalba is trying to leave in a blaze of glory by making noise about impeaching Trump. He has been the “Hispanic face” for Texas moderates during his tenure as state representative, and he will probably continue to be a “Hispanic Republican” commentator and Trump critic for the liberal Media like Ana Navarro is on CNN.
The public and the Media should understand that Hispanics are as different and varied as Europeans and Asians, and that no one person or group speaks for, or represents them. There are many Americans of Latino descent who are American-first, who support a constitutional agenda that promotes personal and economic freedom and liberty, and who support President Trump.
