In another example of character assassination by the leftist media and the Democrats, The New Yorker Magazine broke the story of another allegation of sexual misconduct by Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh. However, the story, by Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer, has been unraveling since the New Yorker published it on Sunday, Sept. 23.
The accuser, Deborah Ramirez, told the New Yorker she had “significant gaps in her memories” regarding the alleged college party from 1983. However, the New Yorker reported that after six days of “consulting” with a Democratic lawyer, Ramirez believed Kavanaugh was the supposed man who exposed himself to her at a party while they attended Yale University. Really?
Furthermore, The New Yorker admitted that it “has not confirmed with other eyewitnesses that Kavanaugh was present at the party.” Even Ramirez’s best friend from her college days has claimed that she never heard about the incident.
Nevertheless, they wrote the story without real corroboration. The allegations and the report were so vague and weak that even The New York Times and The Washington Post passed on the story.
National Review editor Charles C.W. Cooke penned a column calling the piece “grossly irresponsible,” which slams The New Yorker for publishing the story.
Mediate columnist Joseph Wulfsohn noted, “It's worth noting that Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer could not confirm ‘with other eyewitnesses that Kavanaugh was present at the party.’ It's also worth noting that this disclaimer was buried to the ‘10th paragraph’ of the Deborah Ramirez report. Lazy at best, slimy at worst.”
Equally sad and shocking, is how the Democrats immediately ran with the story and wanted a delay and an investigation. Somehow, the Democrats’ concerns regarding sexual misconduct are very selective.
For example:
In all cases, the men denied any wrongdoing, and except for the Clinton case, the Mainstream Media also has given limited coverage to these stories. Also, leftist groups rarely attack and protest against Democrats as they do against Republicans.
In the case of The New Yorker's report, it is sad that some liberal news outlets have indeed reached a low point in their reporting when they run a story with so many holes. There is a definite double standard in the coverage by many reporters in the Mainstream Media.
Sexual harassment is wrong, and the guilty should be punished regardless of their political party affiliation, and the media should be objective.
