The Pentagon announced on Wednesday, May 8, that it has enough funding to build 256 more miles of border wall soon, and will start construction at a rate of about a half mile a day over the next six months. The wall will help slow the tide of illegal immigration, but it brought immediate condemnation from Democrats and pro-open borders advocates.
Democrats in Congress are arguing it could violate America’s long-standing separation of the military and law enforcement. However, they ignore that this is more than local law enforcement; this is about securing the national border and controlling the illegal entry of foreigners.
Ironically, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Democrat from Connecticut and a senior member of the Armed Services and Judiciary committees, protested the funding. Blumenthal is the same person who let voters in Connecticut believe he was a Vietnam veteran when, in fact, he was never deployed to Vietnam.
The liberal news media, particularly the Spanish language media, is also having a meltdown over the announcement. Some reporters are calling the building of the wall “an aggressive act.” What would they call a real military strike?
The U.S. must secure the border to protect its citizens from international crime, terrorists, and illegal aliens with deceases. America must also control who enters and who does not.
Sadly, Democrats and some Republicans continue to show they care more about foreigners and foreign trade than about American citizens.
