According to a U.S. Dept. of Justice's Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) pilot program, 87.5 % of the illegal alien families apprehended and given a court date have failed to appear at their hearing.
Court dates for asylum hearings are one of the worst loopholes in the immigration system. “Family units” (many of them fake families) that cross the border illegally, fail to appear in court afterward, according to the pilot program meant to track family unit immigration cases.
ICE has already released 168,000 illegal immigrant family members into the U.S. this fiscal year, and the number is likely to surge as the border situation deteriorates, a top deportation official told Congress on Wednesday, May 8.
These illegal aliens should lose their eligibility to ever get legal residence or citizenship, and they should be permanently removed from the U.S. Only by punishing illegal aliens that break immigration laws, twice in this case, will these “families” be discouraged from avoiding or ignoring their court dates and violating immigration laws.
America must stop excusing and rewarding any and all illegal immigration regardless of age and circumstance. Illegal immigration must be punished.
