Liberals and leftists are winning the public relations and legislative battles against law enforcement officers, and the worst victims are going be law-abiding citizens and public safety. Race-baiters and liberal/leftist politicians are defending criminal behavior in the name of “civil rights,” and endangering police officers with ridiculous requirements and restrictions.
NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo was fired by the NYPD in the matter of the death of Eric Garner, even though Pantaleo went through two judicial reviews and was found innocent. Liberal/leftist NY mayor Bill di Blasio reacted to the demands of angry emotional race-baiters, rather than respect the legal system.
Also, the liberal press and leftist politicians ignore the facts that Garner was breaking the law, that he refused to follower requests to leave, and that he resisted arrest. They also overlook that Garner was a large, heavy man who outweighed any of the officers involved.
The entire matter could have been avoided if Garner had not been breaking the law, yet somehow the police are guilty?
Things seem to be getting worse for law enforcement. Hyper-liberal California has a new state law requiring police officers to use lethal force only as a “necessary” response to a threat, as opposed to an “objectively reasonable threat.” This requirement places officers in extreme danger because they have to make life-and-death decisions in the blink of an eye.
Also, San Antonio’s former mayor and current Democrat president candidate Julian Castro has proposed to remove the local government’s legal shield and hold police officers personally liable in all lawsuits. He also wants to “demilitarize the police” by issuing an executive order to prevent them from obtaining items including tracked and wheeled armored vehicles and high-caliber rifles. These proposals will endanger the officers and the public.
Rather than fault the police (and immigration agents) for enforcing the laws, Democrats and the press should preach and teach respectful, civilized behavior to communities, especially to young people. There is a culture of social and personal disrespect that has been excused by liberals since the 1960s and caused the anti-social, violent behavior in specific neighborhoods.
Rather than criticizing and attacking the agents of law enforcement (including immigration law enforcement agents) for doing their job, politicians should preach and encourage “The Golden Rule,” and hold people responsible for their actions.
I am an American of Mexican descent, and I was born in public housing. My parents taught me to be respectful (not fearful) of authority and the law, and I have never feared not had problems with the police or the Border Patrol.
I stand with and for police officers, rather than with race-baiters who demand “revenge” masquerading as “justice.”
