The City of San Antonio plans to use some of its federal COVID pandemic relief money for a $5 million grant program for the arts and $1.5 million to organizations to help illegal aliens. This grant is another example of how liberals and leftists assist illegal aliens and encourage more illegal immigration.
The SA City Council approved both programs on Thursday, June 1, on a 9-1 vote, with Councilman Clayton Perry of District 10 as the only opponent. District 8 Councilman Manny Palaez was absent.
The vote shows how much the liberals and leftists dominate the SA City government, which is reflected in their anti-police, anti-economic freedom, pro-globalist, environmental radical programs and policies.
The funds are part of $212.5 million received by San Antonio under the Democrats’ American Rescue Plan Act, the COVID-19. In February, the council identified categories to receive $87.8 million in ARPA money and assigned committees to work out the details. Unfortunately, the process and plans had very little conservative citizens’ input.
Illegal immigration and border crises result from magnets that encourage and reward illegal aliens for violating immigration laws and remaining in the U.S. illegally. Unfortunately, this City program for immigration services is another magnet that promotes and rewards illegal immigration into the city.
It is also ironic and hypocritical that while the Democrat-dominated San Antonio city government is using COVID money to help illegal aliens, the Biden Administration is removing Title 42, which prevents COVID-infected aliens from entering the U.S. Again, the health and safety of American citizens do not seem to be important to Biden and the Democrats.
As for the arts program, beauty and art are in the eye of the beholder. So why does the city determine what art and beauty are, and why is public money used?
This taxpayer money should be used for projects and programs that serve ALL CITIZENS like streets, sidewalks, water, sewers, and public safety (police and fire). Federal, state, and local governments should NOT fund projects and programs that discriminate and assist illegal aliens.
San Antonio received its first allocation in 2021 and will receive its second round of funds soon. The COVID money is part of the largest spending package in the history of America, and it has helped fuel the inflation the nation is suffering.
The conservative citizens of San Antonio must speak up about how the money is used. It should not be used to encourage illegal immigration or define art.
