Sources at the San Antonio Police Department say that there have been almost 120 homicides since the beginning of 2022, and the city could reach 200 by December 31st. Citizens should thank the George Soros-funded DA Joe Gonzales and the City leaders that are soft on crime, but hard on law enforcement officers. When city and county government leaders excuse and tolerate crime because of race and income, the community gets worse crime.
However, the radical liberal city council leaders continue to attempt to defund, dissolve, and discredit the police. A few weeks ago, Eastside San Antonio community leaders and neighbors met with District 2 city council representative Jalen McKee Rodriguez and Ananda Tomas of Act4SA (a Black Lives Matter, anti-police group) to address the violence and crime in the area.
Both McKee-Rodriguez and Tomas offer liberal platitudes and phrases about income and race, but nothing about changing people’s behavior and punishing crime. They talked about alternative solutions to jail and the need for more public money for social problems.
McKee-Rodriguez recently opposed a federal grant that would hire fifty more police officers because he wants more social services in his community. While he plays liberal/leftist politics, the people that he claims to serve, suffer from crime and violence.
Also, a recent survey of San Antonio residents showed that police funding is one of those top priorities. In the City of San Antonio’s annual fiscal year 2023 trial budget survey, money for law enforcement fell in at No. 2, right behind property tax relief.
Will the liberal city leaders hear the citizens? Will the liberal local news ignore the story or play it down? The citizens of San Antonio need a pro-public safety, anti-crime city government and DA.
In the meantime, these are the shootings and homicides over the past week, from Tuesday, Aug. 16 through Monday, Aug.22. These incidents come from the news reports, but some are not reported by the news media.
On Tuesday, Aug. 16, a 30-year-old man was shot multiple times around 9:45 pm on the 4100 block of Gardendale. The man was shot multiple times, including a wound to the neck. The shooter is being sought by SAPD.
On Tuesday, Aug. 16, a teenager was shot on San Antonio’s Southwest side at his home in the 500 block of Kirk Place at around 11 pm. The 18-year-old told the responding officers that he was sitting in his backyard with a friend when someone opened fire and hit him in the arm.
On Friday, Aug. 19, a man was gunned down during a robbery attempt in a Northwest side parking lot. It happened at around 3:30 A.M in the 7700 block of Culebra Road. A robbery suspect was shot and killed after the victim pulled out a gun.
On Sunday, Aug. 21, a man was found dead outside in the Bexar County parking garage in the 200 block of South Flores Street. Ironically, the murder happened on the doorstep of George Soros-funded District Attorney Joe Gonzales’s office. It should highlight how his soft-on-crime policies have increased crime and violence.
On Sunday, Aug. 21, one man was shot after an argument escalated into a shooting on Saltillo Street. SAPD officers said two men, 25 and 26 years old, had gotten into an argument over money which resulted in the shooting.
On Monday, Aug. 22, two men were shot in a drive-by shooting on the east side. It happened around 12:36 a.m. on the 4600 block of Belinda Lee St. just east of downtown. Police say the two men were standing outside of the home when the suspect pulled up and opened fire on them.
