President Joe Biden used Martin Luther King Day to vilify police officers when he spoke at Reverend Al Sharpton’s radical, anti-police National Action Network. He called for more police reforms and accountability which translates into limiting or even punishing police for doing their job. It appears he is signaling a new round for the anti-police movement while completely ignoring the crime and violence the nation is experiencing.
Biden referred to the “George Floyd Bill” proposed in 2021 which failed in negotiations between the Senate and House. It was a radical bill that was designed more to punish police officers than to reform the police departments. It also laid the groundwork for a national police force.
There is a new push by liberals and leftists for new and more stringent police reforms in several cities including Washington, D.C., and San Antonio. Biden is encouraging a new wave of anti-police rhetoric and measures but totally ignores the crime and violence that liberal post-George Floyd law enforcement policies have brought.
Biden’s speech anti-police speech at Al Sharpton’s NAN is not surprising. Sharpton has been falsely accusing police and misleading the public since the 1987 Tawana Brawley incident.
Sharpton supported the claims of a 15-year-old black girl who said she had been assaulted and raped by six white men, some of them police officers, in the town of Wappinger, New York. However, a grand jury found "overwhelming evidence" that Brawley had fabricated her story. Sharpton never paid the liable lawsuit he lost.
Rather than speaking out against the police, Biden should encourage Blacks to address the culture of poverty and violence that liberals justify and excuse. The evidence is there; more Blacks kill and injure Blacks than police officers. Reverend King would want Blacks to lift themselves up without blaming and being racist against others.
In a time when crime and violence are out of control and escalating, Biden, liberals, and leftists are trying to limit, punish, and abolish local law enforcement. There is a direct relationship between the disrespect of officers by public officials and the number who have been injured and killed in the line of duty.
Rather bring peace, Biden's comments will make things worse.
