Leftist extremist Rosie Castro, a civil rights activist and the mother of former San Antonio mayor Julián Castro and current Texas Congressman Joaquin Castro, has declared her interest in being appointed by the San Antonio City Council to the seat in District 7 being vacated by Ana Sandoval. If Castro is appointed, the City Council and city government would be moved further to left in their actions and policies.
Castro has an established history of liberal/leftist politics and statements including criticizing the defenders of the Alamo. She is currently on the board of Texas Organizing Project, a Saul Alinsky-styled statewide race-based group that claims it “organizes Black and Latino communities in Dallas, Harris, and Bexar counties with the goal of transforming Texas into a state where working people of color have the power and representation they deserve.” (https://organizetexas.org/about-top/)
Castro believes in “equity” and her comments reflect her desire to redistribute wealth. She told reporters, "If appointed in February, over the next few months I will do my best to ensure that our community moves forward toward a place where all neighborhoods can thrive, and each person can reach for their dreams.”
Why not ensure equal opportunity so all people can move forward at their own pace? Why do "all" neighborhoods and persons have to move forward and at whose pace and cost?
Sadly, the San Antonio Express-News newspaper has already endorsed Castro for the city council seat. The liberal local news media will be the loudest voice in the city that will influence and mislead citizens.
San Antonio is considering some very important issues this year including a city council election and a so-called police reform charter. If Castro is appointed, she will help push the city more to the left.
The citizens and businesses in San Antonio should be wary of a big government liberal/leftist like Castro who supports socialism and opposes traditional American values.
