While liberals and leftists, with the help of the mainstream news media, are stereotyping and overreacting against police officers again. Because of the recent Memphis incident, they are condemning all police officers and want to disband all specialized police units. It shows their ignorance and contempt for police work and police officers.
For example, in San Antonio, the city and SAPD leaders have adopted dangerous and ineffective policies recommended by liberal/leftist politicians. For example, the SWAT unit cannot take direct action in a standoff but has to "wait out" the criminal. Also, police officers cannot be served arrest warrants at a residence, but they must do them in public. Both policies favor the criminal, endanger the people, and discourage police officers from doing their work.
All police work is not the same, and to assume it is, is dumb. Police officers must be able to manage all types of situations, from assisting an older person in crossing a street to stopping a violent armed criminal. In addition, they must investigate crimes, capture and arrest dangerous fugitives, handle hostage situations, and control and stop mob violence.
Police work can be dangerous and safe, but it is not always the same. It must have workers with specialized skills and training to be effective and successful in serving the community best.
Most police interactions end quietly, peacefully, and successfully. But unfortunately, peaceful interactions do not make the news because they are not beneficial to the liberal/leftist anti-police narrative.
In a time when crime and violence are out of control in minority-controlled, Democrat cities, the liberal news media, and leftist leaders want to punish and limit the police. The liberals and leftists want to use any excuse to control or replace the police with their political version of law enforcement.
Bad police officers should be punished; however, all police officers are not bad. Police need all the tools available to fight crime, including special police units.
Since Obama and, more recently, the George Floyd incident, there has been constant liberal/leftist fearmongering against police. It created sympathy for criminal behavior and hatred and disrespect towards police. The Memphis incident is further fueling the liberal/leftist anti-police agenda.
It is ironic and hypocritical that liberals and leftists preach against stereotyping people but do it against ALL police officers.
